Thanks to everyone who participated in the EUC Blood Drives this year. Through your help we collected 896 pints of blood. Please join us on Tuesday, September 13 for our first blood drive of 2016-2017 school year.
Elliott University Center hosts multiple Red Cross Blood Drives during the school year. Drives are day-long events and are great way to serve the community. Students are encouraged to serve as a donor or as a drive volunteer.
The Drive collects whole blood and automated double blood donations. Whole blood donations typically take 45-60 minutes. Double blood donations typically take an hour to an hour and thirty minutes.
Be sure to come prepared when giving blood. Have a light meal and plenty to drink. Bring your Red Cross donor card (optional), driver’s license or two other forms of identification. Also, bring the names of any medications you are currently taking. NOTE: Double blood donation is only accepting blood types A-, B-, O+, and O-.
The American Red Cross is excited to introduce RapidPass, a new tool that allows blood donors to help save lives in less time. RapidPass offers donors a way to complete their pre-reading and donation questions online from the comfort and privacy of their home or office, reducing the time they spend at blood drives by as much as 15 minutes.

Important information to remember: • RapidPass cannot be completed prior to the date of the drive. The donor must complete the steps to redeem their pass on the day they donate. • Donors must complete RapidPass using a desktop or laptop computer. RapidPass cannot currently be completed using a mobile device, such as a smartphone or tablet. • RapidPass does not take the place of scheduling an appointment. It is only used to complete the pre-reading and pre-donation questionnaire in advance of an appointment. • Donors must print out their pass or email the PDF to themselves and show it on their mobile device when they come to donate. Donors who do not provide the pass will be asked to complete the questions again.
Blood Drive Volunteers
Volunteers can sign up for more then one time slot.
To make a blood drive successful volunteers are needed to assist in various areas . The volunteer areas are:
Load In– Assist the Red Cross with loading their equipment into Cone Ballroom
Greeters- Responsible to sign in all donors; assist with volunteer sign in; make calls to donors to remind them of their appointment
Processing– Greet donors as they enter the ballroom and make sure they read the Red Cross information; maintain order on who goes next into the histories area.
Canteen– Make sure all donors get seated and has something to eat and drink after they donate; Assist with getting drinks to donors if needed while they are donating
Load Out- Assist the Red Cross in loading their equipment on the trucks.
